THE LOCAL INLAND NORTHWEST COOPERATIVE

FARM-TO-TABLE SUBSCRIPTION

Our sourcing team’s longstanding relationships with small farms across the Inland Northwest allow us to handpick the most local and seasonal items available for each LINC Box, even during the typical off-months of the growing season. When local variety is slim, we work closely with our partners at the Puget Sound Food Hub to optimize winter varieties while maintaining our commitment to working with small farms.

Sustainable growing practices are central to our cooperative’s mission - you can rest assured that each item on your table was grown and harvested organically with the overall health of our natural environment in mind.

Find recipe inspiration, storage tips, and farm highlights in the quarterly booklets and newsletters we include with your LINC Box!

linc box

through the seasons

LINC Box makes it easy to buy local and eat seasonally all year long. In the Inland Northwest, there is delicious, farm-grown food available during all months of the year. Our hope is that LINC Box will increase the knowledge and enthusiasm in our community about produce seasonality in the Inland Northwest. Find a range of nurturing produce in your box, from rare varieties unfound at the grocery store to high-quality cooking staples.

With an ensured market for produce during the typical off-months of the growing season, we hope to lower the risk to local farmers in implementing season extension practices and increasing off-season growing.

Pictured below are examples of past LINC Box produce selections through every season.

“The LINC box is always the highlight of my Wednesdays! It is nice to feel connected to where my food comes from and get to make a special stop each week for great produce.”

frequently asked questions

+ Is there a signup deadline?

Nope! You can sign up at any point in the season!

+ How do I make changes to my pickup site, share size, and add-ons?

You can make changes to your account by logging into your account here. The changes will go into effect the following week.

To change your share size or add-ons, click Change next to Subscription under Summary. From there you can change your share size or click on the Options tab to change your add-on subscriptions.

For your pickup site, click Change next to Pick-up Site and choose your prefered location.

If you have any problems doing so please let us know and we can make the changes for you.

+ How do I place a temporary hold on my account if I won't be able to pick up my box?

If you know ahead of time you won't be able to pick up your box, just log into your account to place a hold. Click the Delivery Hold tab and insert the dates you would like us to skip. Holds can be placed up to 5 days before delivery.

+ I forgot to pick up my LINC Box. Will I still be charged?

Our day-of-pickup text reminder system will help so your LINC Box is not forgotten! If you'd like to opt out of texting communications please email info@lincfoods.com.

To ensure the quality of the products, any unclaimed LINC Boxes are donated after the pickup window closes. Per our LINC Box member agreement, members are responsible for picking up their box each week and will be charged for unclaimed shares.

+ How does billing work?

LINC Box is set up with a pay-as-you-go payment schedule, meaning you will be charged for the items you received in your LINC Box after each delivery. You can either pay by credit card (Visa and MasterCard only) or sign up for Electronic Bank Transfer. If you need to make changes to your billing information, you can do so by logging into your account or contacting us at lincbox@lincfoods.com.

+ What if something is missing from my LINC Box?

We're so sorry we missed your item! Please let us know at lincbox@lincfoods.com and we will either set up a way to get you the missed item or issue a credit to your account.

+ Why does my LINC Box feel lighter than normal?

We base each week's selection of produce on price and seasonal availability. Boxes tend to be lighter in the spring with greater availability of leafy greens and heavier in the fall and winter when seasonal produce tends to be heavier (eg. winter squash and root vegetables).

+ What do I do with the cardboard box?

Please feel welcome to return your empty cardboard box to your pick-up site the following week! Break down the box flat as many of our pickup locations are short on spaces. Reusing the cardboard boxes allows us to limit the amount of packaging we use and decreases our environmental footprint. We can't reuse the plastic liner in your box but it is biodegradable!

+ Am I committed to the whole season or can I cancel if something changes?

You can cancel at any time, although we hope you stick around! Supporting local farmers throughout the seasons makes a huge impact. To cancel/place a temporary hold on your account, follow these steps.

  1. Log into your LINC Box account
  2. Choose the Delivery Hold tab
  3. Choose "Place my subscription on permanent hold"
  4. Log out of your account to save the changes

You can also cancel your subscription by sending us an email at lincbox@lincfoods.com.

+ How do I contact LINC if I have a question?

Please contact us at lincbox@lincfoods.com with any questions or concerns regarding your LINC Box! We will do our best to get back to you within 1-2 business days.

LINC BOX & SUSTAINABILITY

The LINC Box program is committed to delivering sustainable product with sustainable packaging that falls within food transportation guidelines. Your LINC box subscription supports environmental sustainability in the following ways.

ORGANIC GROWING PRACTICES

All farms our co-op works with are committed to using environmentally responsible growing practices which includes. Although not all farms are certified organic, they all use organic growing practices.

FOOD MILE REDUCTION

LINC sources from farmers, ranchers, and artisans within two hours of Spokane. We encourage farms that travel a longer distance to carpool with other farmers or make one large delivery rather than many small ones. Local food is not only fresher and tastier, it cuts down on fossil fuel emissions due to travel time. When product availability is slim in our region, we work with the Puget Sound Food Hub Co-op and the Western Montana Growers’ Co-op to source regional and sustainable foods.

REUSABLE AND BIODEGRADABLE PACKAGING

We are required to use plastic liners to transport produce but the liners we use are biodegradable! We encourage our farmers to deliver LINC Box produce items in as little plastic as possible, within transportation requirements. Some farms even use biodegrabable plastics when packaging is necessary!

Reusing cardboard LINC Boxes also helps us to reduce our footprint. We reuse the cardboard boxes throughout the season. Remember to bring your empty boxes back to your pickup site so we can use them the following week!
