Happy New Year, fellow Spokanites and wannabe Spokanites! The weather has been extraordinarily warm this year, and so far it looks like January 2019 will have a lot less snow than years past. What does this mean for us? It’s time to bundle up, get outside and enjoy all the fun activities Spokane has to offer this month!
There are a lot of fun things to do in Spokane this January, and we’ve got a huge list for you below.
Family-Friendly Events in Spokane this January
January 12 – Mission Impossible Fallout at the Hillyard Library. Starts at 2 p.m. Free.
Until January 13 – Family weekend planetarium shows. Mobius Science Center. Times vary. $3 plus admission fee.
January 14 – Pajama Storytime at the Shadle Library. Starts at 7 p.m. Free.
January 19 – Sherlock Gnomes at the South Hill Library. Starts at 2 p.m. Free.

January 25 – Solo: A Star Wars Story at the East Side Library at 3:15 p.m. Free.

Sports & Outdoor Activities
January 5 – Gonzaga Men’s Basketball vs. Santa Clara. Game starts at 6 p.m.

January 9, 16, 23 and 30 – Athleta Plogging Club – Downtown Riverfront Park, plogging (which has something to do with running?) begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 6:30. Free.
January 10 – Skate with the Spokane Chiefs at Spokane Riverfront Park! Starts at 6 p.m. Skate admission is $6.95 for adults and $4.95 for children (ages 3-12). Receive $1 discount off of admissions when you wear your Chiefs gear!
Jan. 17 – Gonzaga Men’s Basketball vs. LMU. Game starts at 6 p.m.
January 7, 14, 21, 28 – Cheap Skate Mondays until February 25. Starting at 11 a.m. Free skate rentals. 1-Hour ice ribbon Skating Admission: $6.95 Adult | $4.95 Child (ages 3-12)
First Friday & Art Exhibits
Until January 5 – Rodin sculptures at Gonzaga’s Jundt Gallery. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free.
January 4 – First Friday in Downtown Spokane. Multiple events and activities here.

January 7 – Planning Meals for Nutrition and Savings (registration required) South Hill Library. 6 p.m. Free.
January 8 – Labyrinth at the Garland. Movie starts at 7:15 p.m. and all tickets are $2.50.
January 9 – Give your opinion on Spokane’s new skate park! Begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown Spokane Public Library.
January 19 – Spokane Women’s March. March begins at 1 p.m. although there are pre-march activities as well. 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.
January 25 and 26 – Bob Saget at the Spokane Comedy Club. For tickets, times, and prices, click here.
January 30 – Groundhog Day at the Spokane Downtown Library at 6 p.m. Free.
Until March 1 – Give Love Public Art Project. The 24 hearts can be found at the Arena, Spokane Convention Center, River Park Square and the Davenport hotels.
January 31 – Dierks Bentley at the Spokane Arena starting at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices vary.
Events Around Spokane in January
January 19 – Mac and Cheese Festival in Coeur d’Alene. Starts at 12 p.m. and goes until 6 p.m. Tickets from $12-33.
